Why are Battery Backups Important?

emergency lighting
Installing battery backup units in your building when your main power supply is cut off and normal lighting fails is critical in an emergency.

With a system that has a battery backup, the lighting will immediately switch to emergency operation when power is lost. Typically, these lights come with at least a 90-minute lighting allowance following power loss. This will ensure emergency exits are visible to your employees, and pathways towards exits (means of egress) are also visible.

Benefits of an LED Battery Backup:

  • LEDs are suited to emergency systems because of their long life and durability
  • LEDs are more environmentally friendly because they don’t contain lead or mercury
  • They combine emergency and architectural illumination and can be made to almost any size or shape
  • Some modules can be flush mounted on floors or walls, and lighting strips are good for stairwells and halls
